n00b

dyeingartsroving.jpgI’m a total n00b when it comes to spinning. I swear.

It’s funny, kind of, not knowing what to do, but just looking at pictures and videos and trying (or failing more often it feels like).
But I expected it, I know how it is to learn something. One day you pick up a drop spindle, the next you want a wheel even though you’re not able to “talk” spinning yet.

Hm… but I like it, I bought some wool, crap wool, and tried first. A miserable thing, not quite yarn at first. Then I had used that up and needed some more.
So I got some merino for cheap, and tried again. Pink and yellow merino. So the small ball of yarn in the picture is the first “yarn” I ever made.
Hideous, but I love it.

Before I finished that I got some roving via the Lime & Violet shop and has already starting converting it from it’s pristine shape and into overspunn spindle made yarn ;)

The reward

I’m done with the exams! (I feel like dancing).
This means that I’m graduating next week :D

This morning, I came to the conclusion that re-reading and stressing myself out was a bad idea. To stress down a little bit, I picked up Thermal.

I’ve been rather slow at it the last week or so, only finishing the second sleeve and doing the button band (all five inches of it). Now I’m knitting the neckline…

One thing Thermal has taught me is that twisted rib is freakishly easier to do in the round than flat, P tbl (purl trough the back loop) sucks.

Other news: I made an agreement with my partner about the grade I could get at the exam. If I got top grades I would allow myself to buy a drop spindle and some instructions, if I didn’t I could still buy it, but it would go off my personal budget (fair enough, ah?)

lookie!
