WIP: Embossed Leaves

June 26th, 2007 by Cecilie | 1 Comment | Filed in WIP

The embossed leaves socks (second pic on the page) are going nicely.
Well, sort of nicely. It asks for a tubular cast-on, and since I was casting on at my parents house, there were no instructions on how to do it. So I just did the regular long-tail. Ooops. Not knitting just wasn’t an alternative at the time.

After that initial mess up, they’re flying off the needles. I started friday and will probably be done with the pair in a couple of days.
That’s how fast it’s going.img_4094.JPG img_4096.JPG

It’s fun. The only problem is that the pattern is too involved for me to be reading while knitting, and I’ve been to the library and gotten some books…
That’s a topic for another day though.

The reward

June 15th, 2007 by Cecilie | No Comments | Filed in Spinning, WIP

I’m done with the exams! (I feel like dancing).
This means that I’m graduating next week :D

This morning, I came to the conclusion that re-reading and stressing myself out was a bad idea. To stress down a little bit, I picked up Thermal.

I’ve been rather slow at it the last week or so, only finishing the second sleeve and doing the button band (all five inches of it). Now I’m knitting the neckline…

One thing Thermal has taught me is that twisted rib is freakishly easier to do in the round than flat, P tbl (purl trough the back loop) sucks.

Other news: I made an agreement with my partner about the grade I could get at the exam. If I got top grades I would allow myself to buy a drop spindle and some instructions, if I didn’t I could still buy it, but it would go off my personal budget (fair enough, ah?)

lookie!

Endings

June 14th, 2007 by Cecilie | No Comments | Filed in Books, WIP

First, the knitting content: Finished the second sleeve on Thermal, not terribly much left to do on it now. Maybe I’ll actually finish it before the Summer of Socks start up?

Media stuff: brilliant cartoons at Mutts-comics.
The best tv-show House MD

Personal:My last exam is on Friday, in science. The class actually has such a generic name, not biology or physics, but science, natural science. It’s one of the classes I’m good at, so I’m happy.

Good mail day

I’m having problems coming up with something to write in this post. Let’s just skip the babbeling and go on to the knitting part:

Thermal: I’m now working on some sleeves (I found another set of 2.5 dpn’s, cheap metall ones, but they work)
The photo is a few days old though.

Thermal and the missing needles

May 8th, 2007 by Cecilie | No Comments | Filed in Knitting, WIP

I’ve been working non stop on my Thermal for ten days or so. As it is made out of fingering weight yarn (sock yarn! yay!) it’s taking forever.
Luckily I’m a skinny chick, it’s only 224 stitches around… I’m on the forth ball of yarn, and the waffle repeat is getting to me. I just want it finished so that I would be able to wear it.

I’ve actually managed to forget that it’s worked on the same size needles as most of my socks as well, untill I went rumaging around in my needle collection to find dpn’s. But I didn’t find any. I thought I owned at least two pairs of 2.5mm dpn’s… No, I actually have three
8 may, socks in progress

Maybe I actually will buy another set, or something… I’ll think about it while knitting the interesting part of thermal (yep, the shoulders)
