Blueberries in the rain

August 15th, 2007 by Cecilie | No Comments | Filed in Knitting, Random, WIP

This weekend I took the sock out and about, to the mountains. img_4330.JPGimg_4362.JPGWe spent the weekend there, picking blueberries, fishing and reading while the rain poured down causing flooding in the valley.img_4340.JPG

It was a good weekend, with my sweetie, his cousin and his grandparents (all of them so nice that I feel like a bad person around them, seriously).

Today it’s Tuesday, and I started school. It still doesn’t feel real, even though I went there and listened to all the speeches, walked around with a nametag and now have a stack of papers to go trough. Surreal, all of it.
When I got home from it I frogged part of the sock, a nervous inch where the toe should have started and slept.

Pissy day

I’ve rambled before about packing and moving. Well, it’s not just that, but cleaning and fixing up problems in the house we’re moving into. Putting in doors and closing others.

Every room of the house is a mess, and I can’t find anything, including my camera cord. No pictures today either, this anoys me, cause I have a great picture off my cabled widdersins in progress. I love them, maybe because they made me learn cabeling without a cable needle. I love them.

The other thing I can’t show you are the fuzzy feet, a stash bust it turns out, it takes a lot of yarn, I might actually run out of the black Cortina Exclusive I bought on sale last year :)

That’s it. I’ll try to unpack the picture cord as soon as possible. The pictures coming then also include the finished Pomatomus and Stripes! sock. :D

Oh, and look here for the upcomming interweave knits projects. I’m making the Dickinson Pullover as soon as possible, I swear…

WIP’s and anxiety

July 8th, 2007 by Cecilie | 2 Comments | Filed in Random, WIP

I’m dividing this post, first the WIP’s, then the other stuff.

Pomatomus knit for a boy… It’s coming along nicely, as I’m working on it while listening to stuff, and as I subscribe to a gazillion podcasts…

The striped sock hasn’t gotten that much attention… I haven’t done very much reading, instead I’ve been watching the first season of L word.

While watching L word I do a different kind of project, some mindless crochet

and it’s flying along. Mesh crochet takes no time and no focus. Love it.

Other than that I worry. Mostly about money, and the fact that I don’t have much, it’s one of the things that gnaws on my inside and keeps me awake. I worry about it and my BF dosen’t, he just dosen’t think about it. Therefore I cannot talk to him about it… he’s just not interested.

Combine that with me tapering of my meds, stuff I’ve been taking for years. I don’t feel depressed any more, I’m angry and afraid.

Lastly I’m moving. This is going to free up a considerable amount of money when we’re out of this place, but at the same time the rythm of my days will change, my freedom is going to be limited again, and I’ll be living with four people, not one. It’s hard.

It’s raining, I worry too much and the newspaper told me this morning about a world I don’t like. Things are going badely.
The rain pours down from the grey sky and all I can do is to sit back, shut the drapes, and pick of my knitting, hoping it will calm me down again…

A roundup

July 5th, 2007 by Cecilie | 1 Comment | Filed in Knitting, WIP

I’m knitting socks, shocking, huh?

Embossed leaves
The embossed leaves are finished! Finito! I spent nine days on these :) A quick knit.
Problem is, thy’re too long for me in the foot, so they’re going to be gifted away.

Current projects, apart from Thermal (it’s sitting over in a corner with one arm attatched and looking bitter) are socks, more socks and some crochet.

Pomatomus
Pomatomus for my sweetie.

Striped!
Striped socks for me, in the Yarn Harlots plain vanilla sock pattern. The plan is to knit these while reading.

And crochet:
Farmers Market
A string shopping bag (pattern from Knit.1 magazine)

WIP: Embossed Leaves

The embossed leaves socks (second pic on the page) are going nicely.
Well, sort of nicely. It asks for a tubular cast-on, and since I was casting on at my parents house, there were no instructions on how to do it. So I just did the regular long-tail. Ooops. Not knitting just wasn’t an alternative at the time.

After that initial mess up, they’re flying off the needles. I started friday and will probably be done with the pair in a couple of days.
That’s how fast it’s going.img_4094.JPG img_4096.JPG

It’s fun. The only problem is that the pattern is too involved for me to be reading while knitting, and I’ve been to the library and gotten some books…
That’s a topic for another day though.
