Sock knitting continues

August 30th, 2007 by Cecilie | No Comments | Filed in Knitting, WIP

All I’m knitting is socks.
But seriously….

Finished Bellatrix socks
img_4427.JPG
pattern: Bellatrix from socktopia
Yarn: Superwash me-Sock by J.knits yarn
Needles: 2.25mm and 2mm (largest for ribbing)

I wrote up my own lace chart to make this, a good proof that I’m not able to follow written directions. The toe is kinda wonky as I decreased a bit too soon and to too few stitches. Knitting with a gauge this tight was a new experience for me, and that is probably why I messed up with those things. (bummer, but I like them. and those things get worn into shape)

Fuzzy feet that I dug out of my hibernating basket two days ago.

I hate working with 7mm needles, they’re huge! Like knitting with pencils.

And my in-bag on the go sock. Supposed to be vog on’s, but the yarn turned out to be self striping. My regular toe-up sock it is then.

The picture was taking after I frogged away my third miscalculation of the sock. I have no idea how I managed to mess it up that many times, but I did.

I’ll try to update with some of my n00b spinning soon, it’s fun :)

A small rant

I’m furious.

It’s election time, the small kind, local politics.
I try to be and remain an informed citizen, actually using my right to vote, and doing this informed.

This is where the rant comes in: I don’t fecking want to vote on any of the parties out there. I spent three hours listening to them talking about things they either didn’t care about, or didn’t know anything. Most of it was guesswork… and this annoyed me, people should at least do their reaserach before they try to convince me. I don’t want people like that running anything.
And… this is the big part, they contradicted themselves, all the time.
One of the parties in power, that allowed some awfull commercial shit (glowing poster towers) to be planted everywhere in the city actually complained over the bombardment with useless information people have to endure.

Another party complained over the cost of every public service and that there isn’t enough cash to do anything. The same people that forced trough some tax-cuts, big ones, two years ago. And yes, they promise to give even more cuts if they win.

I hate them, politicians. Contradicting themselves, and making me not want to vote.
I hate the system, and the people in it.
Shite.

-at least I got some knitting done listening to the utter bullshit.

Blueberries in the rain

August 15th, 2007 by Cecilie | No Comments | Filed in Knitting, Random, WIP

This weekend I took the sock out and about, to the mountains. img_4330.JPGimg_4362.JPGWe spent the weekend there, picking blueberries, fishing and reading while the rain poured down causing flooding in the valley.img_4340.JPG

It was a good weekend, with my sweetie, his cousin and his grandparents (all of them so nice that I feel like a bad person around them, seriously).

Today it’s Tuesday, and I started school. It still doesn’t feel real, even though I went there and listened to all the speeches, walked around with a nametag and now have a stack of papers to go trough. Surreal, all of it.
When I got home from it I frogged part of the sock, a nervous inch where the toe should have started and slept.

FO: Socks Wip: Socks

I found the cord to my camera the other day (finally, it was in the bottom of a box underneath stuff I didn’t have to unpack if it wasn’t for my frantic camera searching) this means I’m including some pictures in todays post :)

The summer of socks is a good thing this year, what with all the moving combined with the weird weather. It’s either hot and humid or cold and humid. Great…

Cabled Widdershins
I made two, both finished.
Interlacements Tiny Toes yarn.
Cabled Widdershins from knitty
2.5mm needles, the dye in the yarn rubbed a little of on the needles, they now look like they’re rubbed with newspaper pages…

Fun to make these, as I learned to cable without a cable needle. And it was my second cable project ever. They make me want to do more cables, possibly a sweater ;)

Pomatomus
Pomatomus by Cookie A. in Knitty
Crazy by Idéna yarn
2.5mm needles

I made these for my BF/sweetie/soon to by husband. He loves them, and actually wears them. The first pair of socks I’ve made him, and he seems so happy with them that I’ll probably make him more socks, even though he has giant feet…

Striped
I love these socks.
Made from Yarn Harlots Basic Sock recipe.
Opal Feelings yarn Farbe 1705.
2.5mm needles.
56 stitches around, and they fit me like a dream. I think this is the first pair of socks I made completly without a pattern, but doing everything as it seemed fitting (in the spirit of the yarnharlot).
The matching stripes of the yarn isn’t intended ;)

img_4214.JPGI got a package from Katie, my partner in the “Yarn in a tea cup swap“. Unfortunatly this is the best photo I have of the entire pack as the candy is eaten up, the buttons she made from old cartoons is in use and I’m drinking from the cup right now…

and lastly, my WIP, a sock ;)

Bellatrix
I started this last night. Weird drop-stitch pattern, fun FUN fun.

pattern: Bellatrix from Socktopia
yarn: J.knits superwash me- sock. Rhode Island.
needles: not 2.5mm needles, but 2.25mm and 2.0mm :)

Look how the yarn plays out in the pattern! Yesh! It works like I hoped.
